Luna UKE B8 ULU 8-Inch Concert Banjolele Tobacco Burst

Details
The etched patterns on the back of Luna's banjoleles are a tribute to traditional Hawaiian quilt design. In the early 1800's, missionaries brought woven fabrics and steel needles and taught the Hawaiian people how to make patchwork quilts. But the Hawaiians made them uniquely their own. The designs were cut from one piece by folding fabric in the same way that you would fold paper to cut snowflakes and were based on the many plants that surrounded them. The old legends say a breadfruit pattern (called ULU in Hawaiian) was the first truly Hawaiian Quilt design and is the first design traditionally used when beginning the craft.

Luna Banjolele is a generic nickname given to the instrument which was derived from the -Inch banjulele-banjo-Inch , introduced by Alvin DKeech in 1917. The instrument achieved its greatest popularity in the1920's and 1930's, and combines the small scale, tuning and playing style of a ukulele with the construction and distinctive tone of abanjo, hence the name.
