The latest muse to solo artist and former The Mars Volta axeman Omar Rodríguez-López is the Ernie Ball Music Man Mariposa electric guitar. Bold in tone, balanced in the hands, and a compelling study in tone-shaping grotesquerie, ORL’s Mariposa is the perfect tool for carving out liminal riffs and discordant textures in an all-amps-at-11 mix. Most striking are the Mariposa’s laser-etched pickguard and matching hardware. A pair of custom-wound Music Man humbuckers and simple controls take the Mariposa from classic chunk and chime to a pedal-laden blitz in a flash. All the while, Schaller locking tuners and a Music Man Modern Tremolo allow you to texture riffs to your heart’s content.

The Mariposa’s bold-yet-ergonomic okoume body reaches toward the heavens like a butterfly in flight. It’s beautifully coordinated by a laser-etched floral pickguard and a full set of matching hardware: pickup covers, bridge, tuners, and trem.

Flawless playability

A 22-fret, C-profile roasted maple neck and 10"-radius ebony fingerboard give the Mariposa the versatility to supply riffers and pedal lovers with endless inspiration. The back of the Mariposa’s neck has been hand rubbed with gunstock oil and wax for a flawlessly smooth, satiny finish. Stainless steel high profile/medium width frets give the Ernie Ball Music Man Mariposa durability and great looks for life.
