Fine Old French Violin by Andre Granier Made in Marseille circa 1930
Fine French Violin made in the workshop of Andre Granier in Marseille, circa 1930. The top is made of two piece spruce, and shows this grain lines widening towards the edges. The back is made from two piece highly flamed maple, the curl slightly descending from the center joint. The ribs, neck and scroll are from the same wood, and original to the instrument. The varnish is a golden browm, on a transparent ground. The violin has been made with the highest of care, in the french Tradition, with a high pattern, with a mix of Stradivari and Stainer influences.
Violin is in beautiful condition, with no cracks or repairs to the body. There are some small holes on the peg box that have been filled.
The violin has been setup and is in fine playing condition. Setup includes a new rosewood and bone tailpiece, rosewood chin rest, a Despiau bridge and a set of Thomastik Dominant strings. The ebony pegs are older and well fitted.
