How exactly does the Gotoh Magnum Lock work if there is no thumbwheel dial on the back?
Gotoh's Magnum Lock system is completely automated by string tension. Inside the tuning post is a floating, threaded pin. When you thread your string through the hole and begin turning the tuner key button, the gear mechanism spins the outer post while raising the internal pin. This pin securely traps and locks the string core inside the post hole before the string actually begins to wrap around the post. When detuning to change strings, the pin automatically backs off to release the string wire.

Will these tuners fit directly onto a modern Fender Player or American Standard neck?
Modern standard necks typically come pre-drilled with larger 10mm (13/32") parallel peghead holes designed for modern diecast screw-in hex nut tuners. Because these vintage SD91-MG tuners require smaller 8.75mm holes, they will not fit standard modern necks out of the box without a set of **10mm to 1/4" Conversion/Adapter Bushings** (sold separately). The conversion bushings fill the extra gap, allowing these vintage 6mm string posts to mount perfectly straight.

What is the best way to install the included vintage press-fit bushings without damaging the headstock?
You should never use a metal hammer to force press-fit bushings directly into a guitar peghead, as this can easily split the wood grain or crack the lacquer finish. We highly recommend using a dedicated hand-clamp press tool or a specialized wooden block method to slowly and evenly press each bushing flat into its respective hole. If the holes are a fraction too tight, use a small T-handle reamer to gently clean out excess finish or wood fibers until the bushing can be safely seated.
