The MXL 440/441 is a beautiful microphone ensemble designed tocomplement a wide variety of vocal and instrument applications. The 440studio condenser microphone combines a FET preamp with anelectrically-balanced output and delivers an uncompromised tonalquality perfect for all studio applications. The MXL 441 instrumentmicrophone delivers the dynamic range required in the most demandinginstrument applications and is perfect for use on the road as well ason acoustic instruments and overhead studio drums.
These microphones have gold-sputtered diaphragms and a fixed cardioidpickup pattern. Condenser microphones are very sensitive, readilyrevealing very subtle sonic details. They also tend to pick up soundsoutside the pattern more than some designs, which can lead to powerfulfeedback if you are not careful. MXL strongly advises experimentationwith placement and isolation requirements with the gain initially setlow to avoid equipment (and ear) damage. It is strongly advised to usea mesh pop-filter to avoid moisture from damaging the capsule.
