La Brea — a brief history

Back in 2017, Brad Paisley acquired his dream guitar. Unfortunately, it had been refinished in black acrylic paint. Brad took the guitar to his luthier to have the paint stripped away and have a classic paisley pattern applied. But after stripping away some of the black paint, the luthier received a pleasant surprise — the very same paisley pattern Brad was coveting was already underneath the black paint. The axe was clearly destined for Brad! Brad named the guitar La Brea, because the black paint hiding the perfectly intact paisley finish reminded him of the tar pits in Southern California.
