Classic-voiced Hot-rodded Active Humbuckers
Dave Mustaine used the classic JB/Jazz combo — the ultimate hot-rodded humbucker set — to fuel some of the most influential riffs in the thrash metal history. We’re all familiar with that iconic sound — the rich harmonics, gorgeous saturation, and sweet-sounding clarity practically defined classic metal tone. That said, modern guitarists often prefer the high-octane sound of active pickups. That’s where Seymour Duncan’s Dave Mustaine LiveWires come in. Designed in collaboration with the legendary Megadeth founder himself, this set exhibits the same flavor as Dave’s classic passive pickups, but with the lower noise, enhanced sustain, and higher output of an active design. What’s more, they boast a covered passive humbucker look, complete with Dave’s embossed signature. Dave Mustaine LiveWire humbuckers include installation hardware and are compatible with most quick-connector cables.
Delivers classic metal flavor with modern active performance
While they’re teeming with classic metal flavor, Dave Mustaine LiveWires exhibit a whole new level of ferocity and gain. The bridge pickup serves up smooth upper-midrange crunch with singing highs, aggressive harmonics, and the perfect blend of sustain and distortion. The neck pickup is chock-full of articulate warmth and clarity, and excels on fast runs up and down your guitar’s neck. Thanks to their vintage-tinged voicing, LiveWires are the perfect choice for players who want to step into active pickups without drastically changing their signature sound. They dish out authentic passive-voiced metal tones, but with the increased output and touch sensitivity that only active designs can offer.
Included hardware for easy installation
Seymour Duncan Dave Mustaine LiveWires include all the hardware you need for installation, including pots, hardware, quick-connector cables, a capacitor, output jack, battery clip, and wire. What’s more, they’re compatible with most quick-connector cables, so if your guitar already has active pickups installed, you may be able to simply unplug them and plug in your LiveWires. How easy is that?
