Vintage-correct packing and true single-coil Strat tone

Flat pole pieces aside, Seymour Duncan was aiming for a classic Strat design when they built the SSL-2 Vintage Flat Strat pickup. They used the same materials as their other vintage Fender-style single-coils. They started with period-correct Forbon flatwork and hand-ground Alnico V rod magnets. Waxed and tinned cloth pushback hookup wires complete the picture. They hand filed the flatwork, then assembled and lacquered the bobbin.
