TonePros TP6R Nashville Locking Tune-O-Matic Bridge — Roller Saddles, Bigsby / Tremolo, Gold(TP6R-G)

The TonePros TP6R (TP6R-B) is the roller saddle variant of the TP6 Nashville locking tune-o-matic — engineered specifically for guitars equipped with Bigsby vibrato systems and other tremolo units. Built for USA Gibson Nashville-format guitars with 10/32 imperial threads, 74mm post spacing and 12-inch radius, the TP6R combines TonePros' patented locking bridge system with roller saddles that allow strings to move freely across the bridge during tremolo use. The result is a system where the bridge stays absolutely locked in position while the strings roll smoothly over the saddles — eliminating the two main causes of detuning on tremolo-equipped guitars: bridge movement and string binding at the saddle. Available in all four finishes.

Angkor Music — Why Bigsby Players Need Both a Locked Bridge and Roller Saddles

Players with Bigsby vibratos and standard tune-o-matic bridges experience detuning from two separate causes that need to be addressed simultaneously. The first is bridge movement. A standard tune-o-matic sits on its posts under string tension only — when a Bigsby is used and string tension changes, the bridge can walk forward or backward on its posts. This changes string height and intonation, and the bridge may not return to exactly the same position each time the arm is used. The TonePros locking system eliminates this by locking the bridge posts in a fixed position — the bridge cannot move regardless of how much the string tension changes during tremolo use. The second cause is string binding at the saddle. When a Bigsby is engaged and the strings change in length, they need to move freely across the saddle surface to allow the string to return to exact pitch when the arm is released. Fixed saddles with notched slots can bind the string slightly — particularly with heavier string gauges or aggressive tremolo use — preventing the string from returning precisely to pitch. The TP6R's roller saddles allow the string to roll freely across the saddle surface rather than sliding over a fixed contact point, eliminating binding and allowing consistent return to pitch. The combination of locked bridge position and roller saddles produces a Bigsby-equipped instrument that returns to pitch reliably — allowing tremolo use without the traditional compromise on tuning stability. At Angkor Music we stock the TP6R in all four finishes.

The Two-Problem Solution for Bigsby Guitars

Problem Cause TP6R Solution
Bridge walking during tremolo use Standard bridge held by string tension only — moves under tension change TonePros locking system — bridge posts locked in fixed position
String binding at saddle Fixed saddle slot grips string — prevents clean return to pitch Roller saddles — string rolls freely, returns to exact pitch

Who Is the TonePros TP6R-G For?

  • Les Paul, SG and ES-series players with Bigsby vibrato systems experiencing tuning instability during tremolo use
  • Players who want to use their Bigsby more freely without concern about detuning after tremolo use
  • Players who have tried other solutions to Bigsby detuning and found bridge movement or string binding to be contributing factors
  • Players with other tremolo systems on Nashville-format bridges who experience similar bridge movement and string binding issues
  • Players with black hardware — for nickel choose TP6R-N, chrome choose TP6R-C, gold choose TP6R-G
  • Players who do not use a tremolo system should choose TP6, TP6B or TP6G based on preferred saddle tone character

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Bigsby guitar go out of tune and will the TP6R fix it?
Bigsby detuning typically comes from two sources — bridge movement and string binding at the saddle. The TP6R addresses both: the locking system prevents the bridge from moving during tremolo use, and the roller saddles allow strings to roll freely rather than binding in fixed saddle slots. For players whose detuning comes from these two causes — which is the most common scenario on Nashville-format Bigsby guitars — the TP6R is the most direct solution available. Can I use the TP6R on a non-tremolo guitar?
Yes — the TP6R will function correctly on any compatible Nashville-format guitar regardless of whether a tremolo is fitted. However the roller saddle design is optimised for tremolo use and the tonal character differs from fixed saddle alternatives. Players without a tremolo who want the TonePros locking system should generally choose TP6, TP6B or TP6G based on preferred saddle material.Does the TP6R work with all Bigsby models?
The TP6R is compatible with any Bigsby or tremolo system fitted to a Nashville-format guitar with 10/32 imperial posts and 74mm post spacing. The bridge itself is not Bigsby-model specific — it is the bridge component of the system. Contact us if you want advice on whether your specific Bigsby and guitar combination is compatible.
